Privacy Policy
CopySlides is operated by AxisLab, a company established in Hong Kong SAR (“CopySlides”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what data we collect when you use copyslides.com and our applications, why we collect it, who else processes it, and how long we keep it.
1. What CopySlides does
CopySlides converts slide screenshots, PDF documents, NotebookLM presentations, and videos into editable PowerPoint (PPTX) files. Doing this requires us to read the content of the files you give us, so this policy describes that processing in detail rather than in general terms.
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google or with an emailed one-time code, we store your email address, display name, avatar URL, which sign-in method and provider you used, the provider’s account identifier, and the IP address recorded at sign-in. One-time sign-in codes are stored only as a hash and expire after ten minutes.
Files you convert
We receive the images, PDFs, and videos you upload or capture, and the PowerPoint files produced from them. We also store conversion metadata such as file name, file size, slide count, and the download link for each result so it can appear in your history.
Billing information
Payments are processed by Stripe through its hosted checkout. We never receive or store your card number, expiry date, or security code. We store the order record: amount, currency, plan, purchase and expiry dates, the Stripe session identifier, and the email address associated with the payment.
Usage and device information
We collect which pages and features you use, how often conversions run, and basic technical details such as browser, operating system, device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. This is used to measure product usage and diagnose problems.
Cookies and local storage
We use a small number of browser-stored values:
- a sign-in session cookie set by our authentication layer, and
inpaint_session_id, which links background-removal jobs to your session for up to 30 days; - interface preferences such as your theme choice and sidebar state;
- an invite code, kept for 30 days, if you arrived through a referral link;
- temporary conversion caches in local storage and IndexedDB, which stay in your browser and are cleared automatically after seven days.
3. Where your files are processed
Some steps run in your browser. Rendering PDF pages into images happens locally, and in Basic mode the final PowerPoint file is assembled in your browser.
Conversion on the website is not a purely local process, in either mode. To detect text, remove it cleanly from the background, and rebuild the slide layout, your images are uploaded to our object storage and processed by our conversion service and the providers listed below. This applies to Basic mode as well as Pro mode. Only the Basic mode of our desktop application runs its pipeline entirely on your own machine.
4. Service providers
We do not sell your personal information or the content of your files. We share data with the following providers so the service can function:
| Provider | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Object storage and content delivery | Uploaded files and generated PowerPoint files |
| Supabase | Application database | Account, credit, order, and conversion history records |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Payment details you enter directly with Stripe, and your email |
| Microsoft Azure AI Vision | Optical character recognition | Images of the slides you convert |
| OpenRouter | Routing requests to the AI model that rebuilds the slide layout | Slide images and the text recognised from them; the underlying model provider depends on the model selected for the conversion |
| Resend | Transactional email | Your email address, sign-in codes, and invoices |
In addition to the providers named above, we use:
- further third-party document-recognition services, which receive links to the files being converted, to improve accuracy on complex layouts;
- analytics and product-measurement services, which receive usage and device information but not the content of your files;
- an embedded form service used for support and contact requests, which receives what you type into that form.
These providers operate in several countries, so your data may be processed outside Hong Kong. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of our users.
5. How long we keep data
- Files you upload for conversion: scheduled for deletion 24 hours after upload, then removed automatically by our storage provider.
- Temporary working files on our conversion servers: removed automatically, and in all cases within 24 hours.
- PowerPoint files we generate: kept in your conversion history so you can download them again, until you delete them or close your account.
- Account records: kept while your account is open.
- Order and payment records: kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require, even after an account is closed.
- Server logs: rotated automatically and overwritten once they reach their size limit. Logs record technical details of each conversion and may include a short excerpt of recognised text for debugging purposes.
6. Security
Traffic to CopySlides is encrypted in transit. Access to stored files and to our database is restricted to the accounts and services that need it, and sign-in codes are stored only in hashed form. No online service can be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
You can:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong;
- delete individual conversions from your history at any time;
- ask us to delete your account and the data associated with it;
- ask for a copy of your data;
- unsubscribe from non-essential email.
Send any of these requests to support@copyslides.org. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and some records must be kept where the law requires it.
8. Children
CopySlides is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date, and it takes effect when posted. For significant changes we will also notify account holders by email or in the application.
